Kitchen Garden awareness program in Schools

The Native Foodscape Foundation is collaborating with the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Manipur on the research project " Mainstreaming Agrobiodiversity Conservation for Climate Resilience and Sustainable Livelihoods." This initiative is funded by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), through the G. B. Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment. The project leadership includes Dr. Adani Azhoni, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at NIT Manipur as Principal I nvestigator, alongside Dr. Chubbamenla Jamir, Founder - Director of Native Foodscape, and Dr. Mala Narang as Co - Principal Investigators.

As part of this endeavor, awareness programmes focused on kitchen gardens in schools were conducted in partnership with Mao - Maram Higher Secondary School, Tadubi, Senapati District, Manipur on 16 October 2025, and with Govt. Middle School in Pfutsoromi, Phek District, Nagaland on 22 October 2025.

These activities also formed part of the UN FAO's World Food Day 2025, alignin g with the global theme "Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future. " The objective of these events was to promote understanding of sustainable food systems, encourage traditional crop diversity, and advocate kitchen gardening as effective approache s to strengthen food security and climate resilience
