Dr. Chubbamenla Jamir

Director & Co-Founder

Dr Chubbamenla Jamir is a distinguished Food Systems Scientist and Trainer, with expertise in climate change, food security, and sustainable development. She currently serves as the Co-Lead of the Thematic Working Group on Mountain Food Systems of the Himalayan University Consortium. Additionally, Dr Jamir serves as a Guest Faculty member at the International Centre for Environment Audit and Sustainable Development (iCED); Advisory Committee, Global Network for Sustainable Development; and Executive Council, International Mountain Tourism Alliance.

Previously, Dr. Jamir served as an Assistant Professor at the TERI School of Advanced Studies (New Delhi, India), from 2012 to 2022. She has also contributed as the Co-Lead for the Thematic Working Group on Mountain Agriculture, Himalayan University Consortium (2017-2024); Doctoral Researcher, Stockholm Environment Institute in York, UK (2007-2011); Associate, Environment Department, University of York, UK (2011-2014), Core Faculty, Global Centre for Food Systems Innovation under USAID Project (2013–2015); Manager, South Asia Regional Hub, UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (2013–2017).

Dr. Jamir holds a background in Botany, with an MPhil in Environmental Sciences from Jawaharlal Nehru University in India and a Doctoral degree from the University of York in the United Kingdom. Her research expertise focuses on climate change adaptation, agriculture, and food security, particularly in hill and mountainous regions both within and outside India. She has supervised numerous Master's and Doctoral theses and has led multiple funded research projects as Principal Investigator (PI), publishing a range of research articles, reports, and policy briefs on these topics.

In addition to her research, Dr. Jamir has organized numerous training workshops centered on climate change, food systems, and sustainable development for researchers, students, policymakers, and various stakeholders in India and beyond. These initiatives have garnered support from the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India (ITEC), the Department of Personnel Training, the Government of India, the United Nations Environment Programme, and the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, among others.
